There are worlds without wind.
I think about that whenever I watch clips of that desert-born gust roaring through coastal canyons on a tiny screen. It’s a jolt to realize how entire neighborhoods, normally so settled, can crackle with extreme heat and dryness in a single hour.
This event, some call it the Santa Ana (Devil) winds, pushes me to question the hidden lines that separate human concerns from the deeper patterns of the Earth.
